Fiskardo
Fiskardo, about 50 kilometres north of Argostoli, is the only village on Kefalonia that escaped undamaged from the earthquake.
The village is almost intact, most of the old Venetian houses are still extant. When one see how nice it is in Fiskardo one curse the earthquake, this is how beautiful all the villages on Kefalonia could have been.
Many think that Fiskardo is the island's most beautiful village, there are even those who think it is the whole archipelago's most beautiful village.
When I first came to Fiskardo, I did it by ferry from Lefkada, we were greeted by an adorable sight. One of my travelling companions said with a sigh: "This is the most beautiful spot I've seen in Greece".

Lourdas
Lourdas is a quaint coastal settlement located 16.7 km southeast of Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia. The settlement stands on the hillside overlooking the blue sea. It is quite popular for its well-organized beach where many visitors enjoy a refreshing swim, right after their arrival to the village. The beach of Lourdas is surrounded by a green landscape with thick vegetation and beautiful waterfalls running through the mountains.
The combination of the crystalline waters and stunning mountain backdrop of Mount Ainos provides a dream scenery that captivates all visitors. The beach is covered with white sand and sunbeds and umbrellas.

Once a quiet settlement of fishermen’s cottages, it has grown into a popular yet tranquil destination, first attracting locals for its seafood taverns and now visitors from further afield.
The village consists of Ano Katelios, home to permanent residents, and Kato Katelios, where most tourist accommodations are found.
Despite its growth, Katelios has kept its authentic charm, offering peaceful surroundings, green landscapes, and a relaxing atmosphere ideal for couples, families, and nature lovers seeking a quiet escape.

Situated just off the northeast coast of Kefalonia, Ithaca is shaped almost like two islands joined by a narrow strip of land. Home to just over 3,000 people, it is the second smallest of the Ionian Islands.
The island’s landscape is strikingly varied. The south is dominated by Vathy, a sheltered harbour town of about 2,000 residents, while the north is dotted with quiet villages and hidden beaches.
The western side is mountainous, with the ridge of Mount Aetos rising above the sea, while the east is gentler and greener, covered with olive groves, vineyards, fruit trees, and spring flowers.
Despite the devastation of the 1953 earthquake, Ithaca has preserved much of its character.
Building regulations keep new houses in harmony with the traditional Ionian style, and there are no large-scale developments.
